WOMAN ACCIDENTALLY SHOT IN HEAD BY 11-YEAR-OLD SON CHARGED WITH CHILD NEGLECT

Child neglect charges have been filed against a Loudon County mother who was accidentally shot in the head by her 11-year-old son after he found a pistol hidden in his bedroom.
Stacy Duggan, 36, was booked into the Loudon County jail today on one count of child neglect and for violation of probation, according to a jailer.
No bond has been set for Duggan, who is scheduled for a court arraignment Tuesday morning.
The boy’s father, Daniel Duggan, 37, was charged last week with child abuse — neglect in the storage of a firearm.
The father also faces a prior child abuse charge after his son was injured in a 2011 traffic crash.
According to Associated Press, the 11-year-old child found a loaded .22-caliber Derringer pistol between the mattress and slats of a bunk bed and accidentally shot his mother in the back of the head.
Stacy Duggan was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in critical condition following the Sept. 4 incident.
The boy’s father was free on a $2,500 bond pending a hearing at 9 a.m. Nov. 7 in Loudon General Sessions Court, according the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office.
Daniel Duggan was charged with aggravated child abuse and aggravated assault stemming from a January 2011 crash in Lenoir City in which the father was driving and the boy sustained major injuries that left him with motor skills problems.
