BRONX BUS DRIVER SET UP AND BUSTED PICKING UP $3 MILLION WORTH OF HEROIN WHILE ON HIS ROUTE

A city bus driver was arrested Monday after meeting up with an African drug dealer while completing his BX2 bus route through the Bronx to pick up $3 million worth of heroin, according to Brooklyn federal court papers.

Francis Abankwa was cuffed by the feds at the Kingsbridge Depot in Inwood after he picked up dope smuggler Boubacar Traore during a pre-arranged rendezvous.

But the MTA bus driver didn’t know that Traore had been busted for carrying drugs at JFK airport a few days prior and agreed to roll on his clueless pal by following through with the heroin delivery while agents waited to pounce, court papers state.

The sloppy scheme began to unravel last week when customs agents traced an unclaimed bag to Traore at JFK and discovered more than 3 kilos of heroin hidden inside, court papers state.

The Ghanaian store owner who arrived at JFK on a British Airways flight from London that originated in Tanzania quickly copped to the crime and agreed to cooperate with agents to take down the bus driver, according to a complaint filed in Brooklyn federal court.

Abankwa picked up Traore on Monday at 6:51 p.m. along the Grand Concourse and stayed on the bus until all passengers were dropped off.

Abankwa brazenly discussed their drug deal during the ride as oblivious riders rode along, court papers state. Traore wore a recording device to capture the incriminating chatter before agents swooped in and made the bust.

The driver was arraigned Monday in Brooklyn federal court and held without bail. Traore was released on $100,000 bond.

Abankwa who has worked as a bus driver for eight years and earned $102,000 in 2012 faces up to 10 years in prison.

A third party in Ghana arranged the drug deal between the two men, court papers state.
