SAMSUNG INTRODUCES NEW "GALAXY TAB A" SERIES OF TABLETS TO THE TECH WORLD

On Monday, April 20, Samsung decided it was about time to introduce a new series of tablets to the world. The company has just announced the Galaxy Tab A series, which will make its debut on a pair of models: one with a 8-inch display, and the other with a 9.7-inch display.

Samsung is positioning these tablets as portable machines, designed to keep the user connected no matter where they are. There are going to be plenty of baked-in features, including Kids Mode, a “personalized tablet experience” with Multi-User Mode and others. It will feature an Adaptive Display, which will automatically adjust the color gamut, contrast and sharpness aiming for the best viewing experience in any given area.

It will also feature Microsoft’s apps, including OneDrive, which will give owners an additional 100GB of free cloud storage for two years. Word, PowerPoint and Excel will be present on the tablet, too. Samsung also confirmed the Galaxy Tab A will feature plenty of other software built-in, including Galaxy Essentials and Galaxy Gifts from “the world’s leading premium mobile content and service providers.”

As far as features go, the Galaxy Tab A series will feature displays that offer a resolution of 1024 x 768 for both sizes. The models also feature the same 1.2GHz quad-core processor under the hood, a 5-megapixel camera on the back with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera on the other side.

It comes in either a 16GB or 32GB model, featuring 1.5GB of RAM and a microSD card slot with support of cards up to 128GB. The 8-inch Galaxy Tab A features a battery measured in at 4200mAh, while the 9.7-inch model comes equipped with a 6000mAh battery. They’re running Android 5.0 out of the box.

The Galaxy Tab A series is available to pre-order right now, including from retailers like Best Buy, and it will be available in stores beginning May 1. The 8-inch model will run $229.99 while the 9.7-inch model goes for $299.99.
