Mount Vernon native Marcus Davis, is notorious for random yet deep (and sometimes controversial) Facebook statuses. He now has collected these thoughts and released his first (hopefully of many) publication, "My Book of Rhymes".
"My Book of Rhymes" is a personal exploration through his life broken down into haikus, ballads, prose, short stories and more creating imaginative fables with hidden allegories and life lessons intertwined in the raw, unforgiving wordplay influenced by hip hop at it's height of lyricism.
Each "poem-story" feeds off of the last as a domino effect to the climax of each chapter, which in turn influences the start of the following chapter about a seemingly unrelated facet of life.
In all, it is an enjoyably moving read creating one collective story with twists and turns not allotted with standard novel writing.
