NY GIANTS WR VICTOR CRUZ |
NY YANKEES 2ND BASEMEN ROBINSON CANO SIGNING WITH JAY -Z'S ROC NATION SPORTS |
The next question is how many dominoes will fall and how soon. Unlike like Master P and his No Limit Sports venture that completely flopped almost 15 years ago, Sean Carter has credibility with almost every main stream athlete in several sports.
Add on his partnership with Creative Arts Agency (CAA), and Jay Z has the ability to take Roc Nation Sports to the next level of upper echelon sports management.
All the company needs now is one more player. Signing one player is a tremendous feat, but if he signs another one, and soon, the line of athletes looking for bona-fide sports representation from someone who can also get them marketing and endorsement opportunities outside of sports will be long outside his door.
That next athlete should be and could be Giants star wide receiver Victor Cruz. Cruz recently fired his agent and signed on to be represented by Tom Condon of CAA.
I’m not sure of the particulars involving the CAA/Roc Nation Sports partnership, but if it only takes Jay Z giving Condon a percentage or fee to business with Cruz then he should.
Cruz has already signed a management deal with Roc Nation to handle his marketing and endorsement business, so taking the next step to have Roc Nation Sports handle his sports business makes sense for Cruz in regards to keeping all his business in one house, and it again provides Roc Nation Sports with another credible and high-profile athlete.
Cruz was asked in October about the possibilities of doing business with Jay Z last October, before he signed his management deal.
“I’d rather keep that under wraps. I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag just yet.” Asked if he’d provide any clarity soon, Cruz said, “We’ll see in the upcoming weeks what happens.”
Victor Cruz now has the management angle taken care of, and now we’ll see if Jay Z looks to Victor Cruz to return the favor and add another viable athlete to his growing stable.
