She’s got the name, and she’s working on her game.
Cheyenne Woods, the 21-year niece of golfing great Tiger, just turned pro after graduating college — and played this week in her first U.S. Women’s Open.
While Uncle Tiger has won 14 majors, Cheyenne finished a bit lower on the leader board: The 5-foot-6 swinger shot a three-over par 75 in her first round.
“Everyone out here has been really supportive,” the Tiger look-alike said at Blackwolf Run in Kohler, Wisc.
Cheyenne said her world-renowned uncle is one of her biggest supporters, and makes time in his touring schedule to offer advice.
“He’s the best player in the world and I have him at my fingertips if I need help,” she said. “So it’s nice to have.”

She first watched her uncle play from a baby stroller in 1992 — although she doesn’t remember a single pitch or putt.
Her grandfather, Earl Woods Sr., put a club in Cheyenne’s hands when she was a toddler — just as he did with Tiger. And Cheyenne doesn’t shrink from her association with her renowned relative.
“I think that it has helped me to get where I am today, and prepare me for this next level, because it is a lot more pressure playing out here for money,” she said. “
Cheyenne is the daughter of Earl Woods Jr., Tiger's older half-brother. The Arizona native just graduated from Wake Forest, where she was a three-time All-ACC player.
While excited about her pro career, she doesn’t expect to become Tigress Wood.
“Tiger is a very elite athlete,” she said. “Not everybody can be Tiger Woods. So I just do what I can do to be the best that I can.”
