| Ann Pettway 50, kidnapped baby from Harlem Hospital in 1987. Feds seeking 20 year prison term and is scheduled for sentencing Monday. |
Federal prosecutors are seeking an extra-harsh sentence for the "kidnap mom" who brazenly snatched a newborn from Harlem Hospital in 1987 and raised the girl as her own.
In court papers filed yesterday, prosecutors say Ann Pettway deserves 20 years in the slammer for the sensational abduction of 19-day-old Carlina White, who was reunited with her real parents last year after tracking them down through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The proposed prison term is seven-plus years more than the maximum recommended in the plea deal that Pettway, 50, struck earlier this year.

But the feds say it would provide "just punishment" for Pettway's "terrible crime," as well as "strong deterrence to others who might contemplate similar conduct."
"For 23 years, the defendant constructed a web of lies that denied the daughter the truth about her family," prosecutors Andrea Surratt and Jillian Berman wrote.
"The defendant's actions also separated the daughter from her parents -- and kept them apart for the daughter's entire childhood and young adulthood -- causing immeasurable pain to the parents."
The Manhattan federal court filing also notes that while Pettway claims she provided Carlina with a "stable, loving and happy home," she was convicted of five crimes during that time and has admitted extensive use of both cocaine and marijuana.
"This suggests a home life more turbulent, and far less supportive, than the defendant suggests," the prosecutors wrote.
Pettway, who's scheduled for sentencing Monday, is seeking no more than 10 years behind bars, with her lawyers arguing that she was "desperate" for a child after two stillbirths and several miscarriages, but is no longer a danger to society.
Defense lawyer Sabrina Shroff declined to comment last night.
