Monica Knight 17, in court after crashing head on with a school bus and injuring herself and three friends who were passengers. Police found drugs in her car and text messages discussing taking marijuana.

A teen basketball star who piled three friends into her BMW before smashing head-on with a school bus sent texts about going on a 'blunt cruise' - smoking marijuana while driving - before the crash.
Monica Knight, 17, veered across the road to collide with the bus in March, hospitalising her three passengers, one of whom remains in a coma while another suffered a brain injury.
Police found marijuana residue and eight prescription pills strewn throughout Knight's red BMW after it hit the bus - which had just dropped of students at a high school - in Kingston, Massachusetts.
Knight, who had only had her license for four months, and her three passengers had planned on attending their junior prom on the day of the crash, but were all hospitalised. At her arraignment on Thursday, Knight pleaded not guilty to charges including reckless operation and drug possession. She was released on the condition that she wear a GPS unit, give up her license and observe a 10 p.m. curfew. Despite the crash, it appears that Knight hasn't stopped dabbling in drugs. As well as testing positive for cocaine, she wrote a tweet last weekend reading: 'fattest blunt I’ve smoked in mad long…mmmm'.
Knight faces charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle, a marked lanes violation, failure to wear a seatbelt and possession of a Class B substance.
She had only had her license for four months, but was not supposed to have passengers, apart from family members, for the first six months.
Knight, who has just completed her junior year at Silver Lake High School in Kingston, was charged as an adult. She is due back in court August 8 for a pre-trial conference.

Outspoken: Posts on Knight's Twitter page show her remorse and how she misses Lipton, who is in a coma. Others show her reluctance to go to court and refer to recent drug taking (not pictured)

She was also required to submit to random drug tests - and sources told that she tested positive for cocaine after her court appearance.Police said they have a string of texts between Knight and others citing plans to 'smoke some bowls' and take Adderall, which was among the pills found in the car at the crash site.
