Rap veteran Nas appeared on the cover of the latest issue of Complex Magazine, and the June/July 2012 front cover artwork is a spin-off from the classic Spike Lee movie "Do The Right Thing".
The Queensbridge native's new album Life Is Good set to drop this summer, and during his interview with Complex, Nasty Nas touched on details concerning the upcoming LP, revealing that he has a track which is in reference to his ex-wife, Kelis.
In a short excerpt from the cover story, Nas spoke a bit about that particular track, which is said to have touched on how he and Kelis fell in love and their ultimate separation.
"There was a point where we were trying to hold onto a relationship that was finished. She was pregnant and in the studio while we were recording Distant Relatives, and he would move when the music would come on. That was a great feeling for me, just to have that feeling of family. It ended around the time the record was being done."
"There were times when it didn't bother me, and there were times when it bothered me a lot. There were times when I was thinking, Damn. I had this sh*t all planned out, and now I've failed. That was hard on me, because I don't like to fail at anything. Accepting that I failed at this relationship—and it was public—messed me up. You ask yourself, How could that person be so cold? And I'm sure she felt the same way about me. It was ugly."
Nas' Life Is Good album is set to drop on June 17th.
