INNOCENT MAN IS KILLED BY SUBWAY TRAIN IN NEW YORK CITY AFTER BEING PUSHED BY UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN
The unidentified victim was crushed by the first and second cars of the Flushing-bound train about 8 p.m, as his murderer hustled down the stairs of the elevated station at the 40th St./Lowery St. stop in Sunnyside and fled in an unknown direction on Queens Blvd.
The suspect, described by police as a heavyset Hispanic woman in her 20s, was still at large as of early Friday.
The unfortunate man, who witnesses told police likely never saw his killer as she struck, was the second person this month to be slain by being pushed from a subway platform into the path of an oncoming train.

The 7 train horror, due to its apparent random nature, was eerily reminiscent of the 1999 death of 32-year-old journalist Kendra Webdale at the hands of a schizophrenic platform pusher, a notorious case that rattled the city and sparked a debate over treatment of the mentally disabled.
Even before the suspect’s fatal action Thursday night, she exhibited signs that seemed to point to a troubled mind. The woman, who is about 5-feet-5 with brown or blond hair, was seen by at least five witnesses pacing on the platform and mumbling to herself, said NYPD spokesman Paul Browne.
She eventually took a seat on a wooden bench about 20 yards from the victim, who stood on the platform’s edge and did not appear to have ever noticed her, Browne said.
As the train pulled into the station, the woman quickly made her move.
“She was seated alone and then waited until the train came into the station and approached this individual from behind and pushed him in front of the train,” Browne told reporters at the station Thursday night.
There was no video surveillance of the suspect filmed at the station, but investigators were scouring locations on Queens Blvd. to see if her image was filmed. She wore a gray, blue and white ski jacket and gray and red Nike sneakers, witnesses told police.
Investigators do not believe the victim knew his attacker.
On Dec. 3, Ki-Suk Han, 58, of Elmhurst, Queens, was fatally crushed by a downtown Q train at the 49th St.-Seventh Ave. station after a drifter with a lengthy rap sheet tossed him onto the tracks following an argument.
Cops collared Naeem Davis, 30, and charged him with second-degree murder in the deadly altercation. Davis claimed he had merely tried to push Han, a Korean immigrant and father, away after the altercation.
RETIRED GENEREAL NORMAN "STORMIN' NORMAN" SCHWARZKOPF COMMANDER OF THE DESERT STORM FORCES DEAD AT 78
| 4 STAR GENERAL NORMAN SCHWARZKOPF DEAD AT 78 |
"Stormin' Norman" Schwarzkopf commanded the U.S.-led international coalition in Desert Storm. He died at 78.
WASHINGTON — Retired Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf, who topped an illustrious military career by commanding the U.S.-led international coalition that drove Saddam Hussein's forces out of Kuwait in 1991 but kept a low public profile in controversies over the second Gulf War against Iraq, died Thursday. He was 78.
A sister of Schwarzkopf, Ruth Barenbaum of Middlebury, Vt., said that he died in Tampa, Fla., from complications from pneumonia. "We're still in a state of shock," she said by phone. "This was a surprise to us all."
A much-decorated combat soldier in Vietnam, Schwarzkopf was known popularly as "Stormin' Norman" for his notoriously explosive temper.
He served in his last military assignment in Tampa as commander in chief of U.S. Central Command, the headquarters responsible for U.S. military and security concerns in nearly 20 countries from the eastern Mediterranean and Africa to Pakistan.
Schwarzkopf became "CINC-Centcom" in 1988, and when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait three years later to punish it for allegedly stealing Iraqi oil reserves, he commanded Operation Desert Storm, the coalition of some 30 countries organized by former President George H.W. Bush that succeeded in driving the Iraqis out.
"Gen. Norm Schwarzkopf, to me, epitomized the 'duty, service, country' creed that has defended our freedom and seen this great nation through our most trying international crises," Bush said in a statement. "More than that, he was a good and decent man — and a dear friend."
At the peak of his postwar national celebrity, Schwarzkopf — a self-proclaimed political independent — rejected suggestions that he run for office, and remained far more private than other generals, although he did serve briefly as a military commentator for NBC.
While focused primarily in his later years on charitable enterprises, he campaigned for President George W. Bush in 2000 but was ambivalent about the 2003 invasion of Iraq, saying he doubted victory would be as easy as the White House and Pentagon predicted. In early 2003 he told the Washington Post the outcome was an unknown:
"What is postwar Iraq going to look like, with the Kurds and the Sunnis and the Shiites? That's a huge question, to my mind. It really should be part of the overall campaign plan," he said.
Initially Schwarzkopf had endorsed the invasion, saying he was convinced that former Secretary of State Colin Powell had given the United Nations powerful evidence of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. After that proved false, he said decisions to go to war should depend on what U.N. weapons inspectors found.
He seldom spoke up during the conflict, but in late 2004, he sharply criticized then-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and the Pentagon for mistakes that included inadequate training for Army reservists sent to Iraq and for erroneous judgments about Iraq.
"In the final analysis I think we are behind schedule. ... I don't think we counted on it turning into jihad," he said in an NBC interview.
Schwarzkopf was born Aug. 24, 1934, in Trenton, N.J., where his father, Col. H. Norman Schwarzkopf, founder and commander of the New Jersey State Police, was then leading the investigation of the Lindbergh kidnapping case, which ended with the arrest and 1936 execution of German-born carpenter Richard Hauptmann for stealing and murdering the famed aviator's infant son.
The elder Schwarzkopf was named Herbert, but when the son was asked what his "H'' stood for, he would reply, "H." Although reputed to be short-tempered with aides and subordinates, he was a friendly, talkative and even jovial figure who didn't like "Stormin' Norman" and preferred to be known as "the Bear," a sobriquet given to him by troops.
He also was outspoken at times, including when he described Gen. William Westmoreland, the U.S. commander in Vietnam, as "a horse's ass" in an Associated Press interview.
As a teenager Norman accompanied his father to Iran, where the elder Schwarzkopf trained the country's national police force and was an adviser to Reza Pahlavi, the young Shah of Iran.
Young Norman studied there and in Switzerland, Germany and Italy, then followed in his father's footsteps to West Point, graduating in 1956 with an engineering degree. After stints in the U.S. and abroad, he earned a master's degree in engineering at the University of Southern California and later taught missile engineering at West Point.
In 1966 he volunteered for Vietnam and served two tours, first as a U.S. adviser to South Vietnamese paratroops and later as a battalion commander in the U.S. Army's Americal Division. He earned three Silver Stars for valor — including one for saving troops from a minefield — plus a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart and three Distinguished Service Medals.
While many career officers left military service embittered by Vietnam, Schwarzkopf was among those who opted to stay and help rebuild the tattered Army into a potent, modernized all-volunteer force.
After Saddam invaded Kuwait in August 1990, Schwarzkopf played a key diplomatic role by helping to persuade Saudi Arabia's King Fahd to allow U.S. and other foreign troops to deploy on Saudi territory as a staging area for the war to come.
On Jan. 17, 1991, a five-month buildup called Desert Shield became Operation Desert Storm as allied aircraft attacked Iraqi bases and Baghdad government facilities. The six-week aerial campaign climaxed with a massive ground offensive on Feb. 24-28, routing the Iraqis from Kuwait in 100 hours before U.S. officials called a halt.
Schwarzkopf said afterward he agreed with Bush's decision to stop the war rather than drive to Baghdad to capture Saddam, as his mission had been only to oust the Iraqis from Kuwait.
But in a desert tent meeting with vanquished Iraqi generals, he allowed a key concession on Iraq's use of helicopters, which later backfired by enabling Saddam to crack down more easily on rebellious Shiites and Kurds.
While he later avoided the public second-guessing by academics and think tank experts over the ambiguous outcome of the first Gulf War and its impact on the second Gulf War, he told the Washington Post in 2003, "You can't help but ... with 20/20 hindsight, go back and say, 'Look, had we done something different, we probably wouldn't be facing what we are facing today.'"
After retiring from the Army in 1992, Schwarzkopf wrote a best-selling autobiography, "It Doesn't Take A Hero." Of his Gulf War role, he said, "I like to say I'm not a hero. I was lucky enough to lead a very successful war." He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II and honored with decorations from France, Britain, Belgium, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain.
Schwarzkopf was a national spokesman for prostate cancer awareness and for Recovery of the Grizzly Bear, served on the Nature Conservancy board of governors and was active in various charities for chronically ill children.
"I may have made my reputation as a general in the Army and I'm very proud of that," he once told the AP. "But I've always felt that I was more than one-dimensional. I'd like to think I'm a caring human being. ... It's nice to feel that you have a purpose."
Schwarzkopf and his wife, Brenda, had three children: Cynthia, Jessica and Christian.

BROOKLYN NETS FIRE HEAD COACH AVERY JOHNSON AFTER 14-14 RECORD TO START THE SEASON
| AVERY JOHNSON(R) BEING CALLED FOR A TECHNICAL BY NBA REF |
Johnson, who was in the final year of his contract, was named Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for October and November following an 11-4 start. But the Nets have won just three of their last 13 games in December, prompting the team to go in another direction.
The Nets, at 14-14, currently hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the East.
"The Nets ownership would like to express thanks to Avery for his efforts and to wish him every success in the future," principal owner Mikhail Prokhorov said.
Johnson was named coach of the Nets on June 15, 2010. In two-plus seasons with the Nets, Johnson compiled a record of 60-116.
TEACHERS GET SPECIAL FIREARMS TRAINING IN UTAH AND OHIO SINCE SCHOOL MASSACRE AND NRA SUGGESTION
School is set to open Thursday for 200 Utah teachers who will get special firearms training -- working with a plastic gun in a conference room in a hockey arena -- to carry concealed weapons in their classrooms.
Since the Dec. 14 massacre of 20 children and six staff at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut and the National Rifle Association news conference touting arming teachers for school security, such classes are drawing fresh attention.
In Ohio, the Buckeye Shooting Foundation is swamped with 20 times more applications -- from teachers and administrators to custodians and bus drivers -- than they have space for in a three-day tactical defense course to be offered this this spring.
Jim Irvine, president of the Ohio foundation, said Thursday that the $1,000 per person Armed Teacher Training Program would be free for the 24 people selected from more than 400 applicants. "What better use for an educational foundation than to help educators protect our children," he said.
It is legal in Ohio to bring a concealed weapon on school grounds if a school district has granted permission. Irvine expects more will do so since the Sandy Hook killings.
"School boards were just in denial. That denial got ripped away in Newtown, Conn. The idea is to make it hard to kill a kid," he said.
The school personnel chosen for the class must already have basic firearms training and a concealed carry permit and come to the Tactical Defense Institute in rural West Union, Ohio, with their own handgun, holster, extra magazines and speed loaders.
The idea that someone on a school staff may be armed would work as a deterrent, just as training and arming airline pilots has improved air safety, said Irvine, who is an airline pilot.
In Utah, gun instructor Clark Aposhian told the Associated Press, "We're not suggesting that teachers roam the halls" for an armed intruder. "They should lock down the classroom. But a gun is one more option if the shooter" breaks into a classroom, he said.
He is chairman of the Utah Shooting Sports Council, the state's leading gun lobby, which is waiving its $50 fee for the training. The instruction, featuring plastic guns was to start Thursday afternoon in a conference room at Maverick Center, a hockey arena in the Salt Lake City suburb of West Valley.
Utah is among the few states that let people carry licensed concealed weapons into public schools without exception, the National Conference of State Legislatures reported in a 2012 compendium of state gun laws.
Parents of schoolchildren will not know which teachers are armed. By law, Utah gun permit records are closed to the public. In Arizona, where gun permit records are also closed, Attorney General Tom Horne has proposed amending state law to allow one educator in each school to carry a gun.
Earlier this week, The Journal News in Westchester, N.Y., a state where records are public, ignited a furor by publishing an online database mapping -- by name and address -- every person with a handgun permit in three counties north of New York City.
The National Rifle Association blasted the newspaper's action as "irresponsible and dangerous."
Arming teachers is dangerous, Carol Lear, a chief lawyer for the Utah Office of Education, told the Associated Press. She argues teachers could be overpowered for their guns or misfire or cause an accidental shooting.
"It's a horrible, terrible, no-good, rotten idea," Lear said.

CHAD JOHNSON'S SEX TAPE VIXEN REVEALED AS VIDEO MODEL WANKAEGO
Apparently upset by its release Johnson has sought out the FBI to help track down the person who leaked the tape and seek legal action. Until then however, his ex-wife Evelyn Lozada and others are continuing to rag him for his antics. Most recently Lozada, who had prior knowledge of the tape, called out her ex for giving a “boring” performance and laughed about it with her fans. “Stripper W/ athlete = Boring sex tape,” she said.
And while Lozada is giggling over the XXX cinema, the alleged co-star in the tape has been exposed. If you believe the staff at celeb website FullCourtPumps.com, the star of Ochocinco’s tape is video model Wankaego. The buxom beauty is said to be an aspiring actress, rapper and dancer. ”Tattoos are a dead give away when it comes to identifying a person,” reported the site about the starlet. “The Chad Johnson sex tape has been creating quite the buzz. Everyone has been wondering who the girl in the 3-4 year old sex tape is, considering the alleged female is NOT Evelyn Lozada. FCP likes to ensure that it’s readers and followers are updated with everything fast and it took no time for us to identify the tatted curvaceous female.”
The site then goes on to point out a series of tattoos that match the ones sported by the woman in the tape.
The model is apparently taking the incident in stride however and has been actively promoting her newfound fame on her Twitter account. She’s since posted the messages seen below and links to her music videos.

WHITNEY HOUSTON MURDERED OVER DRUG DEBT?? PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR SAY SURVEILLANCE VIDEO PROVES IT!!
Paul Huebl says he has turned over evidence to the FBI that shows the 48-year-old singer was killed over a drug debt in February.
The medical examiner ruled that she drowned in her bathtub at the Beverley Hilton hotel after taking a cocktail of cocaine, marijuana and several legal drugs.
The National Enquirer is reporting that Huebl believes the troubled star was targeted by several 'high powered drug dealers who sent thugs to collect a huge debt she owed for drugs.'
She owed $1.5million to dealers, according to some reports. However, Huebl told MailOnline that he doesn't know for certain that Houston was killed - only that evidence he collected could point in that direction.
He says that the star received a delivery of cocaine to her room the day before her death and could be heard saying 'I'm tired of this sh*t.'
He says the Houston had previously been subjected to harassment dealers trying to collect on her debt.
Huebl says he obtained surveillance video that shows two unknown men who repeatedly went to the Beverly Hilton and integrated themselves into Houston's entourage.

Private investigator: Paul Huebl, the man who is making the claims about Houston's death, is a former cop who became an actor
|
The private investigator claims these are the men who slipped into Houston's hotel room and killed her.
He also disagrees with the Los Angeles County Coroner's ruling that the star's death was 'accidental.''Whitney’s body shows classic defense wounds that would have occurred while she was battling for her life,' he told the Enquirer.
However, Huebl conceded that the marks on her hands and fingernails could have been obtained in some other ways and that they were only 'suspected' defensive wounds.
The private investigator said he also has evidence that Houston's hotel room was ransacked, showing further hints of a violent struggle.
Huebl says he gave his evidence to the Chicago field office of the FBI in the hopes that the agency will open a criminal investigation.
'I think that if you put all these things together, they do kind of spell homicide, with a big red capital "H,"' he told MailOnline.
The FBI did not immediately respond to requests for comment. A message left with Beverley Hills police was not immediately returned.
Heubl, a former Chicago police officer who became an actor after he retired, says he conducted the investigation after being hired by a client who did not believe the official reports on Houston's death.
Huebl believes Beverley Hills police did not fully investigate Houston's death because they did not want to bring the negative attention to Beverly Hills or to the Beverly Hilton.

LUDACRIS VACATIONING WITH S. AFRICAN GIRLFRIEND IN HAWAII
| Ludicris vacationing with sexy girlfriend Eudoxie in Hawaii |
As if being whisked away for a luxury holiday in Maui wasn't enough, rapper turned actor Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges went the extra mile for girlfriend Eudoxie.
The French-speaking beauty from Gabon, Africa, enjoyed the ocean waves from the best view in the house, as she got a ride on her beau's back while sunning herself in Hawaii.
Crash star Ludacris, 35, and his stunning girlfriend Eudoxie, 25, jetted over to Maui to celebrate the holidays with a bit of sunshine.
All eyes were on Eudoxie as she wore a high-cut one-piece peach swimsuit that showed off her dangerous curves and amazing shape.
With her long black hair falling over her shoulders, the beautiful Eudoxie looked like a professional model as she cut an eye catching figure on the beach.
Luda played it cool in a pair of striped shorts and had his six-pack displayed as he frolicked with his stunning girlfriend in the crystal blue water.
The pair have been dating for four years and are clearly still in the honeymoon phase as they looked very affectionate together.
There was speculation recently that they had secretly married after Eudoxie allegedly changed her Facebook status to 'married'.
However, the account was a fake and although deeply in love with her, Luda denied he was ready for the big step just yet.

COWBOYS JOSH BRENT FORMALLY INDICTED OF INTOXICATION MANSLAUGHTER IN THE DEATH OF HIS TEAMMATE
Brent is charged in connection with a December 8 crash that killed his friend and Cowboys practice squad member Jerry Brown. He is out of jail on $100,000 bond.
Dallas County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Debbie Denmon says the indictment was returned Wednesday.
The death of Dallas Cowboys star Jerry Brown, 25, has led to teammate Josh Brent being indicted on manslaughter charges
|
Police in the Dallas suburb of Irving say Brent was speeding when his vehicle struck a curb and flipped. Brown was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
Denmon says no court dates have been scheduled.
Brent's blood alcohol limit was 0.18, it was reported today, meaning a person his size would have to drink about 20 shots over a four-hour period to reach that level.A number of witnesses came forward to say that Brown was alive and screaming for help after Brent crashed the car.
Fatal: Police say Brent had a blood alcohol limit of 0.18 percent - more than twice the legal limit - when he crashed his Mercedes in Dallas and killed his teammate
Stacee McWilliams, 40, from Irving, told police on Monday that when she stopped at the scene of the accident, she practically had to beg Brent to help his best friend out of the Mercedes, which was upside down and on fire.
She said: 'I jumped out and ran out toward the wreck. I yelled to Brent, "Are you OK? Are you OK?" And he told me he was fine as he was pacing back and forth.
'I was relieved because I thought, it’s just a single-car accident, nobody’s hurt. And then fire sparked up from the car and got bigger and I started to hear screams.
Brent’s attorney, George Milner, called McWilliams’ account 'absolutely false'.
'What I’ve been told is that Jerry Brown was never conscious after the accident,' Milner said. 'This woman, while present in the area of the accident, could not have seen or heard anything she said about Josh.
DRAKE WANTS A CHECK FOR USE OF YOLO BY MACY'S AND WALGREENS
YOLO. It's not just an overused phrase by wannabe cool kids anymore.
Drake, who is often credited with popularizing the shortened, acronym version of "You only live once," hinted Tuesday that he wants a cut of these profits.
Specifically, the Canadian rapper called out Macy's and Walgreens.
The 26-year-old rapper posted an Instagram shot of several "YOLO" hats for sale, writing, "Walgreens... you gotta either chill or cut the cheque."
Somehow, we doubt the cheque is in the mail.
He also called out another major retailer, posting an Instagram shot of "YOLO" on a Charlie Brown T-shirt, quipping, "Macy's... same goes for you."
Nor is it clear if he was even the first person to use it, or how serious he is about Macy's and Walgreens coughing up royalties from their YOLO gear sales.
In any case, that's where we are right now.
Macy's can't catch a break this Christmas season. Between this and the Dump Trump petition, it's like everybody's got beef with the popular holiday retailer.
NICKI MINAJ IN HER SEXY CATSUIT SET TO MAKE $5 MILLION FOR NEW YEAR'S EVE GIG
With every Christmas gift opened and unwrapped Nicki Minaj was clearly raring to show off her new presents to the world.
The Super Bass rapper showed off her ample cleavage as she stepped out on Christmas Day evening in a very revealing catsuit.
Nicki, 30, was the guest of honor as she was attending her own festive party which was held at Webster Hall in New York City.
Nicki, who was sporting a sleek bob, teamed the catsuit with a thick black belt and a large pair of red and black sunglasses.
The Christmas Extravaganza is not the only party Minaj has put her name to as earlier this month, it was revealed that she would be hosting a New Year's Eve celebration at PURE nightclub, in Las Vegas.
According to PURE's website: 'The rapper, songwriter and television personality will throw a boisterous party as she leads the countdown to midnight and celebrates with partygoers at Las Vegas' top mega-club.'

It is unclear whether Nicki, who celebrated her second multi-platinum album this year when Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded topped both US and UK album charts, will perform during her stint.
The New Year's Eve celebration marks the culmination of a big year for the rapper, who also starred in a three-part fly-on-the-wall documentary series, and was appointed a judge on hit show American Idol for which she is expected to earn between $8 to $12 million.
And the $5million fee Nicki is set to receive for the New Year's Eve gig is reportedly $1million more than world-famous superstar Beyoncé is making when she takes home $4million for an invitation-only concert at the rival Wynn Hotel, also in Vegas.

INSTAGRAM BEING SUED IN FEDERAL COURT FOR ALTERED POLICY ON SHARING ITS USERS PHOTOS
"Instagram is taking its customers property rights while insulating itself from all liability," says the firm in the filing. "In short, Instagram declares that 'possession is nine tenths of the law and if you don't like it, you can't stop us.'"
Controversy has arisen over the recently-released policy, which clients have interpreted as giving Instagram the right to sell one's images to advertisers and third parties, royalty-free.
Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom has released a statement that attempts to quell these concerns, but celebrities such as Kardashian have threatened to leave the service unless the policy changes are revoked.
But this isn't good enough for the law firm.
"The purported concessions by Instagram in its press release and final version of the new terms were nothing more than a public relations campaign to address public discontent," the complaint reads.
Facebook, which owns Instagram, has responded to the class action suit, deeming it "without merit" and adding: "We will fight it vigorously."
Any Instagram user in the state of California - are you reading this, Kim? - is eligible to join the class action.
CHAD "OCHOCINCO" JOHNSON'S SEX TAPE LEAKED AND IT'S THE REAL DEAL!!!
While most of us choose to spread holiday joy on Christmas Day, some unknown party decided to disseminate a Chad Johnson sex tape instead.
Thanking whomever "dropped this in our inbox," World Star Hip Hop posted a video of stills of the former NFL getting his FREAK ON with two chicks.
A source close to the former Ochocinco said the sex tape was shot 3-4 years ago, and Chad is exploring his legal options but was not behind the leak.
Just one of the girls. See below.
Meanwhile, ex-wife and Evelyn Lozada addressed the issue on Twitter, along with MediaTakeout's report that he's boning her friends on the video.
"LMFAO @MediaTake_Out Those chicks in the video are not my 'friends' & the video is old news over here in my circle - Merry Christmas you f--ks."
And to all a good night. Check out some very NSFW pics after the jump:
"F--k no," he wrote, "it's 3/4years old."
TENNIS GREAT RAFAEL NADAL HAS NEW iPHONE APP TO HELP IMPROVE YOUR GAME
Tennis great Rafael Nadal is ready for his comeback.
Since a knee injury sidelined him after this year's Wimbledon, he's been out of action. But he'll be back at the Australian Open next month, and with a new iPhone app.
The new Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy App, developed with video-analysis firm Vstrator, will be available within the next few days on iTunes. It offers in-depth tennis tutorials of Nadal's strokes, along with Vstrator's easy-to-use video coaching tools.
"This helps you visualize how to become a better player," Nadal, the world's No. 4-ranked player, told USA TODAY in a phone interview.
The app (www.vstrator.com/rafanadal) lets consumers capture and analyze video of athletic motions such as ground strokes and serves. Video can be recorded or imported from a smartphone camera into the app. So-called "Vstrate" technology lets users highlight video to zero in on any part of their game.
Users of the app can frame video forward and back to compare their technique with Nadal and other players. Vstrator video can be shared via Facebook, Twitter, e-mail or text message.
The normally low-key Nadal, 26, rarely does interviews or endorsements. But he made an exception with Vstrator to reach out to fans, he says.
"You can use it anywhere — on the court or at school, and compare any shot of yours to a professional player," says Nadal, an 11-time Grand Slam champion. "It is a great way to learn tennis, and see how you can improve."
Vstrator hopes to "lead the sports community into the digital age and taking coaching and training to a new level," says Rob Autry, the company's CEO and founder.
GREAT GAMES FOR YOUR SMARTPHONE OR NEW TABLET
Snag a new smartphone or tablet for the holidays? Welcome aboard! Both devices provide tons of hours of entertainment between streaming TV shows and movies, and millions of apps.
Of course, there's also a wide selection of games to choose from. Need help picking games? Here are some choices:
Angry Birds Star Wars (Android, iOS): The physics-based puzzle game combines two hot properties into one package. Players use the touchscreen to fling powered-up birds at pigs stealing their eggs, all behind popular Star Wars backdrops such as Tatooine and the Death Star. Expect perks such as Luke Skywalker's lightsaber and Obi Wan Kenobi's Jedi force powers at your disposal.
Infinity Blade II (iOS): The role-playing game stars a knight dueling in a series of one-on-one encounters. The graphics are gorgeous, while the search for new swords, shields, armor and magic abilities grows increasingly addictive. It's a great choice for mobile players preferring a more core gaming experience.
Flight! (iOS): The premise seems really basic initially: fly a paper airplane by swiping the touchscreen. Once you add collectible stars, upgrades to paper quality and plane design and other boosters, it's an enjoyable diversion.
Plants vs. Zombies (Android, iOS): This top-notch tower defense game has players protect their home from the undead by growing special plants with unique powers such as the Potato Mine or Cherry Bomb.
Jetpack Joyride (Android, iOS): Players follow Barry as he sneaks into a secret jetpack laboratory and tests out the new gear. The goal is to travel as far as possible down the lab's long corridors before getting knocked out. Bonuses such as souped-up motorcycles and teleporters help players weave past rocket attacks, missiles and other threats.
Grand Theft Auto III (Android, iOS): For those in search of some video game nostalgia, the classic open-world crime adventure from Rockstar Games arrives on mobile devices. Just don't ask us how to get the code to unlock all the weapons.
Rayman Jungle Run (Android, iOS): This charming platformer from publisher Ubisoft features simple controls and absolutely gorgeous visuals, as players guide Rayman through a variety of interesting environments.
Temple Run (Android, iOS): Players grab a mysterious golden idol, then attempt to escape a secret temple. Players simply swipe left or right to dodge obstacles, up to jump and down to slide. The formula is simple, but it's tough not to want to continue topping your best distances.
NBC'S DAVID GREGORY BEING INVESTIGATED FOR DISPLAYING A HIGH CAPACITY MAGAZINE ON 'MEET THE PRESS'
District of Columbia police say they are investigating an incident in which NBC News reporter David Gregory displayed what he described as a high-capacity ammunition magazine on Meet the Press.
Gun laws in the nation's capital generally restrict the possession of high-capacity magazines, regardless of whether the device is attached to a firearm.
"NBC contacted (the Metropolitan Police Department) inquiring if they could utilize a high capacity magazine for their segment. NBC was informed that possession of a high capacity magazine is not permissible and their request was denied. This matter is currently being investigated," police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump said in a written statement. She declined to comment further on the investigation.
While interviewing National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre for Sunday's program, Gregory held an object, apparently as a prop to make a point, and said it was a magazine that could hold 30 rounds.
"Here is a magazine for ammunition that carries 30 bullets. Now, isn't it possible if we got rid of these, if we replaced them and said, 'Well, you can only have a magazine that carries five bullets or ten bullets,' isn't it just possible that we could reduce the carnage in a situation like Newtown?'" Gregory asked, referring to the December 14 mass shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut.
LaPierre replied: "I don't believe that's going to make one difference. There are so many different ways to evade that even if you had that" ban.
SYRACUSE SUSPENDS 2 PLAYERS FOR THE PINSTRIPE BOWL AFTER VIOLATING RULES
Syracuse has suspended sophomore tailback Adonis Ameen-Moore and reserve tight end Max Beaulieu for the Pinstripe Bowl on Saturday for violating athletic department rules.
Head coach Doug Marrone announced the suspensions in an email that did not elaborate on what the players had done.
Ameen-Moore, who was used mainly in the Orange's short-yardage formation, gained 108 yards on 30 carries and scored six touchdowns in the six games he played. Beaulieu played in just one game this season, a home win over UConn.
Starting outside linebacker Marquis Spruill also has been disciplined. He will not play ''a significant portion'' of the Pinstripe Bowl against West Virginia.
Spruill and running back Steve Rene were arrested Dec. 2 and charged with misdemeanors after scuffling with Syracuse Police. Marrone did not specify how much of the game Spruill will miss. The junior is fourth on the team in tackles with 62 and is a three-year starter.
RIHANNA AND CHRIS COURTSIDE AT THE LAKER GAME IN ON AND OFF AGAIN RELATIONSHIP
Chris Brown and Rihanna made sweet music yesterday in their own version of “Love & Basketball.”
The on-again, off-again, on-again lovebirds were seated courtside at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles for the Knicks-Lakers Christmas Day showdown.
Brown, 23, and Rihanna, 24, were all smiles during the game, which Los Angeles won, 100-94.
Before the game, Rihanna tweeted a picture of herself as a sexy Santa helper: “Santa baby! Hurry down the chimney tonight! Is it too late to be nice?”
The couple’s rocky relationship will always be known for an ugly beat-down that Brown inflicted on Rihanna nearly four years ago.
Brown brutally beat his gal pal after a pre-Grammy Awards party in 2009, just six miles away from where they were seated all lovey-dovey yesterday.
Brown pleaded guilty to assault. He avoided jail time in the plea deal and did probation and community service.
