MEGAN MAHONEY |
Megan Mahoney, 24, was charged with 30 counts of statutory rape for a series of trysts that authorities say took place between Oct. 31, 2013, and Jan. 9.
Mahoney romped with the teen “on numerous occasions, that is at least two times per week during the period,” court papers claim.
She also was charged with four counts of “criminal sexual act” because of mutual oral sex that she and the boy allegedly engaged in “at least two times per month during said period.”
An investigation by the NYPD’s Special Victims Squad revealed that some of the alleged encounters took place on school grounds, a source said.
Mahoney, who also was Moore’s assistant athletic director and an assistant girls basketball coach, resigned under fire after the teen’s ex-girlfriend spotted him and Mahoney at a pizzeria and called the cops, sources have said.
The boy was unaware of Mahoney’s arrest when contacted by the media on Monday evening.
“I don’t really know how I feel about it,” he said. He has said he was expelled from Moore over his alleged assignations with the pretty brunette — although the archdiocese said he was not booted over the scandal.
Earlier this year, the boy told sources that his relationship with Mahoney — a former hoops star at Wagner College — developed after she approached him in the school’s gym and offered to coach him in basketball.
He recalled boasting about his experiences to his best friend and several other kids, who responded by saying, “How awesome — good job.”
The sex charges against Mahoney are felonies that each carry a maximum of four years in jail.
Mahoney, who was released without bail, declined to comment afterward, as did her defense lawyer.
A spokesman said the Archdiocese of New York was unaware of Mahoney’s arrest but “will cooperate fully in any investigation.”
