LORI SULLENBERGER |
Sullenberger raised suspicions when the foot traffic to her room seemed a bit odd, as visitors came by to pay her a call but did not even know her last name.
They would then reportedly leave after a minute or two. The young woman also had an inordinate number of cell phones in her room that would ring at all hours, states a police report.
Hospital personnel in Sullenberger’s ward thought that the Greenburg police should get involved after witnessing the peculiar goings-on surrounding their patient.
After being contacted, police investigators monitored Sullenberger’s hospital room, and then sent an undercover informant to allegedly purchase drugs from her. Police Captain Chad Zucco, who spoke to Action News 4 said, “The confidential informant was able to purchase approximately 30 bags of heroin from her. In a subsequent search of her person and her room, they were able to confiscate 380 bags of heroin, approximately $3,800 street value.”
Zucco also revealed to the news outlet that his officers stumbled upon $1,420 in cash and drugs inside Sullenberger’s purse. There were also reportedly drugs inside the Sullenberger’s hospital dresser drawers as well. Investigators are, however, baffled as to how the woman managed to allegedly sneak drugs inside her room to begin with.
In addition, the 38-year-old woman, who was being treated at the medical facility for an undisclosed illness, even managed to inject heroin into her IV line, according to police.
Meanwhile, Sullenberger remains hospitalized as police are seeking arrest warrants for not only her but also against boyfriend Jason Bates, 32, and Robert Rearick, 27, whom investigators say either bought or possessed drugs from the suspect.
