2014 CFDA FASHION AWARDS WILL BE HONORING RIHANNA WITH THE FASHION ICON AWARD

Rihanna will be honored with the Fashion Icon Award at the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards.

The singer/fashion designer will be recognized for her contributions to the fashion industry as well as her philanthropic partnership with the MAC AIDS Fund's Viva Glam campaign.

The award is given to someone whose style has made an impact on pop culture around the world.

"We are proud to present Rihanna with the CFDA Fashion Icon Award for her impact on the industry as fashion's most exciting ambassador in recent memory", said Steven Kolb, CEO of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, in a statement.

Past Fashion Icon Award recipients include Lady Gaga, Iman, Kate Moss and Nicole Kidman. The awards will take place on June 2 in New York.
