DJ FUNKMASTER FLEX INDUCTED INTO THE NEW YORK BROADCASTERS HALL OF FAME

DJ FUNKMASTER FLEX
The inductees for the 2013 New York Broadcasters Hall of Fame have been announced and Hot 97′s Funkmaster Flex is part of the class.
Please join us in saluting this accomplishment of a DJ who has been working at Hot 97 since the ’90s. What makes this such an extraordinary feat is that he is the first Hip-Hop DJ to do so.

In addition to radio, Flex has been dubbed the “evangelist of Hip Hop car culture” by the New York Times. He is also known for breaking exclusive records with his signature bomb drops that hype up any track. One of his biggest assets is that he plays a very pivotal part in artist exposure with his show reaching up to 3 million listeners a week.
Flex’s influence extends far beyond his ability to rock a crowd and transcend his skills throughout the decades as a DJ. He’s one of hip-hop’s most respected personalities and is asked his opinion on the state of affairs in hip-hop at many rap forums frequently. These forums often include the likes of heavyweights executives such as Russell Simmons, Lyor Cohen, and Rick Rubin just to name a few.

Whether it’s because of his loud, brash manner of speech or his entertaining style, the famed record spinner has been a household name for years and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
