MICHAEL BEASLEY |
The 24-year-old baller, who was considered one of the greatest college freshman basketball players of the 2000s, is no stranger to trouble.
Back in 2008, his rookie season, Beasley, along with a couple of other ballplayers, was implicated in a situation involving marijuana.
Police were summoned to a hotel room to respond to a fire alarm that had gone off. When they arrived, the space reeked of marijuana. No drugs were ever found, so no charges were filed.
Although Beasley was fined a reported $50,000 by famed coach Pat Riley because he was allegedly in a room where marijuana was found. Beasley confessed to Riley that he had snuck out the door and let the other ball players take the heat when police arrived on the scene.
Just one year after the hotel incident, the 6’10″ player checked into rehab days after he had tweeted a picture of himself with what appeared to be baggies of marijuana in the background.
In 2011, Beasley was again pulled over by police for speeding and officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana throughout the vehicle’s cabin. When police searched Beasley’s car, they allegedly stumbled upon a bag of marijuana under the vehicle’s seat. The young man claimed the drugs did not belong to him but he was fined and ticketed anyway.
Beasley, who has an $18 million, three-year contract with the Suns, is involved in his fourth marijuana-related offense as police discovered the drug in the driver’s area of the vehicle.
Beasley was released from custody and is expected to appear in court at a future date for a hearing.
