(VIDEO) MIGUEL INTERVIEW AFTER INFAMOUS LEG DROP ANSWERS TWITTER RANT ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE HATING

MIGUEL & CHARLIE SLOTH
Miguel caused a stir earlier this week after he posted a Twitter rant saying Black people are more judgmental than other races. While the statement angered many and prompted some biting responses, the “Adorn” singer stuck to his claims in a BBC Radio interview yesterday (May 29).
Sitting with BBC's Charlie Sloth on the Radio 1Xtra show, Miguel addressed the Billboard Music Awards now-infamous leg drop performance and the memes and jokes the incident caused. The crooner keeps a generally good sense of humor about it all. Sloth switched gears, however, and mentioned the controversial tweets, which Miguel stood behind without fear.
From the BBC Radio interview:
"But I think what is clear is when you put it all in context is that I'm saying that we are judgmental of our own. We're very judgmental of each other. We're tearing each other down, and that's why the second tweet about us being preprogrammed and preconditioned to hate each other and hate ourselves is valid. And that's all in context, but if you take it out of context, I seem like I'm uneducated.
"I see more black people tearing down other black people than I see any other culture tearing down their own culture regardless of what they're doing, and whether or not you agree with that, that's okay. But I'm just talking about what I see, and how disappointed I am in that. I'm not judging my own people. That's a fallacy. I'm merely speaking on what I see and making a conversation of it."
Miguel continued by saying it takes “backbone” for an artist of his stature to speak their mind on a touchy subject such as race, and his explanation adds clarity to the seemingly random nature of his tweets. The reportedly African-American and Mexican artist ended by saying he stands by his opinion, regardless if others dislike him for it.
