| Lil Wayne sippin on the Sizzurp |
Before southern rappers jumped on their tracks spittin' lyrics about 'purple drank' the average person didn't know anything about this deadly concoction. It's main ingredient is a prescription strength cough syrup made up of promethazine and codeine.
Lil' Wayne has been publicly spotted with his Styrofoam cup on many occasions and frequently raps about it. This is why news sources, bloggers, and the mainstream media is speculating about his health issues being connected to 'lean'. On March 15, 2013, it was reported that Wayne had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after being discovered "shaking uncontrollably" and "unconscious". Doctors found a high amount of codeine in his system and his stomach had to be pumped three times.
Yes, this liquid drug might make some feel a sense of euphoria but doctors say it's extremely dangerous because it triggers respiratory or cardiac arrest if the dose is to strong. We've already experienced this with the untimely passings of DJ Screw and Pimp C of the Houston hip-hop scene. Lil Wayne was even seen holding his cup in the music video "Duffle Bag Boy" with R.I.P. DJ Screw written on it.
So, will Wayne fall back off the "purple drank" or will there be a sad ending to this Cash Money/Young Money hip-hip icon's story?
