MANTI TE'O HAS LACKLUSTER SHOWING AT NFL COMBINE LEADING TO DRAFT STOCK DROPPING

NOTRE DAME LINEBACKER MANTI TE'O
INDIANAPOLIS -- Manti Te'o went through workouts at the NFL scouting combine at Lucas Oil Stadium with the linebackers group Monday afternoon, and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.82 seconds.
His time was 20th of the 26 linebackers who ran at the combine Monday.
NFL front office personnel were looking for the Notre Dame linebacker, who measured at 6-feet-1¼ inches and 241 pounds, to run at least a sub 4.75.
Missouri's Zaviar Gooden ran a 4.47, the fastest time among the linebackers.
After facing a media onslaught Saturday, Te'o faced the people who mattered most Monday -- NFL general managers, coaches and scouts. He'll likely be subject to further scrutiny after his disappointing results in the 40.
While every player's athleticism comes under scrutiny at the combine, Te'o drew the most attention. GMs and coaches wanted to see how Te'o would perform not only after his poor showing in the Discover BCS National Championship against Alabama, but also after the revelation in January that he was the focus of an elaborate hoax involving a fake girlfriend.
ESPN NFL draft analyst Todd McShay has Te'o at No. 20 in his top 32. In his most recent mock draft, Mel Kiper Jr. had Te'o going to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at No. 13.
McShay's most recent mock draft had Te'o going to the Chicago Bears at No. 20.
