MICHAEL VICK OPEN TO SIGNING WITH N.Y. JETS IF PAID MORE THAN SANCHEZ

Michael Vick doesn’t want to be the next Tim Tebow.
According to an NFL.com report.  Vick would consider signing with the Jets this offseason if he were getting paid more than Sanchez and was the clear starter. Before Vick contemplates a future beyond the Eagles, he first must be cut by Philadelphia. A scenario that seems likely with this season ending with him on the bench following a concussion and the $15.5 million he’s scheduled to make next season.
The Jets’ path to ridding themselves of Sanchez, who was benched on Tuesday for Greg McElroy, is not as clear. Thanks to the Jets signing Sanchez to an extension this past offseason, the beleaugured quarterback is guaranteed to make $8.25 million next season and if they cut him it would be a $12.35 million cap hit. That would make it near-impossible for for the Jets to afford the 33-year-old Vick, who, according to the report, wants to be a starter wherever he goes and thinks he can thrive in that role for another four years.
If the market agrees with him, the Jets would not be a legitimate option financially.

Vick has been out since Nov. 11 and the 4-10 Eagles, with little to play for, have given rookie Nick Foles a chance and relegated Vick to third-string duty. Before the injury and benching, Vick was having a mediocre season for Philadelphia with 2,165 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
"I have a lot of football left in me, a lot left in my tank ... the future will take care of itself," Vick told the Philadelphia Daily News on Monday when he asked if he would want to stay with the Eagles in a backup capacity.
The Jets traded for Tebow to backup Sanchez this year, but have mismanaged him all season and in a final indignity chose McElroy over him as the starter for this Sunday’s game against the Chargers. The future is murky for Sanchez, Tebow, Vick and the Jets’ quarterback situation.
"I'm a competitor, and I've always felt like and will continue to feel like I'm one of the best and can play at a high level ...,” Vick said. “I want to be out there, I want to play, but it's just not the ideal situation right now ... I have to accept my role, accept it like a man, continue to find positives out of it."
