This is terribly sad…and frightening. A pack of hyenas attacked a sleeping family in the Kenyan town of Wajir last week, killing two children and injuring six other relatives.
Five of the six family members injured in the July 10 attack were admitted and discharged from Habaswein District Hospital, but 10-year-old Musa Jellew, who suffered more serious injuries, was airlifted to a hospital in Nairobi on Thursday.
Authorities were able to track down and kill the vicious creatures that ambushed the family. But officials warned people to be cautious, as hyenas are making more contact with people in Africa due to the increasing human population, ABCNews.com reported.Earlier this week, the service had to drive away elephants that had invited themselves into homes in the same area, according to a news report. And last month, lions in Kitengela stormed into villages and killed goats, CapitalFM News reported.
