Rome-based technical outerwear brand Nemen, has unveiled a very unique experimental project in the form of a L.E.D. reflective jacket.
This interesting concept was achieved by weaving optical fibers within the fabric, creating an area which is lit up by 12 integrated LED’s powered by 2 rechargeable batteries that last up to 8 hours. The outer fabric of the jacket is a monofilament of nylon and steel, with a transparent polyutherene film which shields the optical fibers while also showcasing enhancing the visual effect created by the light passing through the jacket. The inner fabric is made up of a special aluminum coating that reflects body heat ensuring maximum warmth and insulation. Due to the relatively sophisticated process of manufacturing the jacket, the Nemen L.E.D. reflective jacket is only available for purchase at the customer’s specific request and is priced at €3000 USD.
