Specifically, the new phone could launch Oct. 14, with the entire month shaping up to be an “incredibly busy one for the company,” MacRumors reported, quoting a source.
The source said a senior store leader let slip that Oct. 14 would be an “immense” day for Apple, while adding that the company is planning a media event for Sept. 16 — a full month ahead of the device’s launch.
Typically, the company releases a new phone in September. But this year the launch date has been a moving target, perhaps due to the debut of a long-rumored smartwatch or another brand new device.
Earlier this year, Apple watchers made breathy predictions that the iPhone could debut as early as June. But last year, there was speculation that the iPhone launch would be pushed back to Thanksgiving.
