CARLOS ORTIZ |
But, when you are in that life, just know there are only so many protections you can be given if you are set free for snitching on your “friend”. Ortiz’s old neighborhood has made it clear, that if he comes back it will be a problem.
Here is what Ortiz’s cousin Jose “Ito” Torres had to say about Ortiz stepping back in the hood that protected him for many years.
“If you come back to the streets where everybody thinks you’re hard but you’ve snitchd …” His voice trails off. He doesn’t want to say the wordsTorres is implying that Ortiz may face street justice if he becomes the prosecution star witness. Where I come from it isn’t that people don’t want to cooperate with the police, but they don’t trust the police to protect them.
“Everybody knows that Charlie told,” Torres said. “He’s been labeled a rat. He’s done. He’s done. You’re going to have another breaking news (story) on TV.”
In the end, Ortiz maybe willing to take the risk of being free on the street as oppose to locked up for life.
