The autopsy report issued about the 1997 mysterious killing of Notorious B.I.G., whose real name is Christopher Wallace, has been released and reveals that the famed East Coast rapper was shot four times and that one of them was fatal.
A security hold placed on the documents was lifted last week, Chief Coroner Investigator Craig Harvey told the Associated Press, without specifying why.
The case remains one of the most high-profile homicides in Los Angeles and the celebrity world, In January, it was reported that an investigation into the slaying of the rapper, also known as Biggie Smalls, had been "reinvigorated" due to new information that had surfaced." The FBI and Los Angeles police have both been probing the incident.
Wallace was shot dead at age 24 while sitting in a vehicle after leaving a music industry party at the Petersen Automotive Museum, held in celebration of Friday's 11th annual Soul Train Music Awards, in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997. The killer was never found.

1. Wallace was shot four times, with the fourth being fatal. The first bullet penetrated his left forearm and generated a soft tissue injury. The second hit his back. The third hit his left thigh and caused a "superficial laceration" on his scrotum. The fourth hit his lower chest, near his abdomen, injuring his colon, liver, part of his diaphragm, his heart and the upper lobe of his left lung and exited through his left shoulder.
2. Wallace was shot at 12:30 a.m. on March 9, 1997 while sitting in the front passenger seat of a GMC Suburban outside the museum in Los Angeles and was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills, several miles away from the shooting. The driver was, according to the report, his "cousin, Damion Butler."
3. The autopsy report states: "The vehicle stopped at the light at the intersection with Wilshire Boulevard and an unknown vehicle drove up on the right side and opened fire. [Wallace] was immediately driven to hospital and later pronounced [dead]."
4. The gunshot wounds spurred him to suffer a cardiac arrest. He arrived at the emergency room at 12:48 a.m. After failed attempts to resuscitate him, he pronounced dead at the hospital at 1:15 a.m.
5. The report states: "The cause of death is a penetrating gunshot wound to the abdomen and chest, causing multiple visceral injuries (gunshot wound #4). In addition, [Wallace] received 3 gunshot wounds (left forearm, left thigh and back) that were not considered fatal wounds due to the absence of visceral or major vascular involvement. The mode of death is homicide."
6. At the time of his death, Wallace, who was 74 inches (6'2") tall, weighed 395 pounds. He is described in the autopsy report as being morbidly obese, with an enlarged heart, liver, spleen and thyroid gland.
7. Wallace suffered from other ailments at the time of his death -- gallstones, a buildup of fluid in his lungs and brain, a fracture to his thigh bone (held up with an orthopedic rod) -- and also had a clinical history of bleeding in his chest and heart.
8. At the time of his death, Wallace had a thin mustache.
9. Wallace had a tattoo on his right forearm that read: "The Lord is my light and my salvation." It is a quote from Psalm 27, a verse from the Bible that is sometimes read at funerals.
