For those who don't know, singer/songwriter Ne-Yo was recently offered the prestigious honor of playing Martin Luther King, Jr. in an upcoming biography style film on the historical revolutionary leader. However, Ne-Yo made the tough decision to reject the opportunity because he has been hitting the gym religiously in order to whip his body into shape for the upcoming release of his R.E.D. album, which will be released in September.
In order to play the Martin Luther King role, Ne-Yo would be required to gain 30-pounds, which is something that he isn't willing to do because he doesn't want to put his acting career before his music career.
"I definitely want to do more acting but it's got to make sense with the music. I recently had to turn down an amazing opportunity to be in a movie playing Martin Luther King. They wanted to start shooting at the time my album R.E.D. comes out and wanted me to gain 30 pounds, so I couldn't do it.
"I'm kicking myself but acting can't take the place of my music. Plus, I've been killing myself in the gym for months preparing for this album because I wanted a complete makeover."
