A car carrying two people crashed through a brick wall, winding up inside a Bronx building.
The driver was killed and his passenger rushed to Jacobi Hospital in critical condition.
“They took the guy out,’’ witness Lincoln Raby said. “A firefighter yelled ‘he’s gone! he’s gone!’ Then one of them shouted back, ‘how about the other one?’ They said, ‘she’s got a pulse.’ ’’
No one was hurt in the building, at 1649 Overing Ave. in the Westchester Square section, which has stores on the ground floor and six apartments on the second floor. All of the tenants were evacuated as firefighters shored up the wall to keep the structure from collapsing.
