CHRIS BROWN |
A spokeswoman for the bad-boy pop star (right) said he was admitted on his on volition and wanted to make up for past mistakes and help further his career.
“Chris Brown has elected to enter a rehab facility,” the rep said in a statement. “His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point.”
Brown, 24, hinted at rehab on Twitter hours before the statement was released.
“In order to go where u have never gone u have to be willing to go where u never been!!!!” the artist told his 13 million followers.
His spokeswoman did not specify the issue for which Brown was going to rehab, but TMZ reported it was anger management.
The rehab trip meant Brown had to cancel a concert Tuesday at Roseland Ballroom in Manhattan.
Brown was charged with misdemeanor assault on Monday for allegedly going ballistic on a fan who had gotten in the way as the star tried to take a picture with two women outside the W Hotel in DC.
The fan said Brown used a a gay slur before clocking him and breaking his nose.
Brown’s lawyer said the fan tried to enter the singer’s tour van and needed to be restrained by his security detail.
Because of the bust, Brown could face jail time in California, where he is still on probation for a felony assault charge after beating his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
His legions of fans — dubbed Team Breezy — prayed for his recovery.
“God bless you,” Kissilla Vieira tweeted. “Stay strong Team Breezy loves you so much my eternal idol and inspiration.”
